HELSINKI: Finnish intralogistics automation specialist Cimcorp has secured an order worth just under 30 million euros from Chinese tyre manufacturer Qingdao Sentury Tire Co Ltd. The order is the largest the company has received in its almost three-decade history and will be delivered to the company’s new factory in Thailand.
“Today’s state-of-the-art tyre plants are efficient, well organised, dynamic and lean,” stated Kai Tuomisaari, Cimcorp’s vice president of sales and projects. “This flexible efficiency can be achieved through modular automation and total control of the process flow. This is exactly what we will be supplying for Sentury’s new factory in Thailand.”
Located approximately 160 kilometres from Bangkok, the factory is to receive a total of six independent automation lines. These will cover the handling of passenger car radial green tyres from the tyre-building machines to the curing presses, along with the sorting of finished tyres, palletising, warehousing and shipping. This order follows a similar project of automated handling systems that the Finnish company completed for Sentury Tire’s Qingdao plant in China.
The new system in Thailand is set to become operational across various stages during 2015 and 2016.
