FIR lodged against Haji Sadiq, Masood Khan under Anti-Terrorism Act

LAHORE: Police has lodged an FIR under Anti-Terrorism Act against notorious smuggler Haji Sadiq and several others for an armed assault against customs staff.

Information was passed that large quantity of smuggled goods (four containers) was present at the warehouse of Haji Sadiq owned Shehryar Traders. Deputy collector Karim Aadil along with Customs staff reached on the sport, but several armed persons including Masood Khan son of Haji Sadiq attacked the Customs staff and injured two officials.

The associates of notorious smuggler Haji Sadiq including his son were armed with rifles, pistol and iron rods. The armed smugglers manhandled Customs staff and snatched the official SMG rifle from Constable Adnan Liaquat, they also attempted to set official vehicle on fire.

Meanwhile, a large contingent of police and Customs arrived, and the attackers escaped.

An FIR is lodged against Haji Sadiq, Masood Khan son of Haji Sadiq and several others at Misri Shah Police Station under Anti-Terrorism Act and six persons have been arrested.

The examination of the seized smuggled goods is being conducted, while an FIR under Customs Act would be lodged soon.

Haji Sadiq is the prime accused in Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos Sheikh murder in Quetta. These smugglers are so powerful having connections in politics, parliament and security agencies.
