FIR lodged against M/s KM Steel for evading tax amounting to Rs23m

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectotare Port Muhammad Bin Qasim has logged FIR against M/s KM Steel for evading taxes amounting to over Rs23 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Mehbbob Alam, the proprietor of M/s KM Steel Gujranwala and others have been booked in the case registered by Custom Intelligence Unit (CIU) of Model Customs Collectotare Port Muhammad Bin Qasim on directions of Collector Port Qasim Seed Akram on Saturday.

According to the details M/s KM Steel imported 25 containers of remittable iron steel scrap from M/s Marwa Trading Sharjah United Arab Emirates while the clearing agent M/s Rauf Brothers filed the GDs to clear the consignments.

During the re-examination of all the containers to ensure weather the consignment was cleared accordingly, custom officials found huge mis-declearation, value of the goods was declared 17 million while in the re-examination it established that the actual value of the consignment was over 38 million. Sources told that after the registration of the FIR further investigations are still under progress.
