Fire erupts in warehouse of Multan Dry Port Sher Shah

MULTAN: A huge fire broke out in the warehouse of Multan Dry Port here at Sher Shah on Saturday night.

Sources told Customs Today that all of sudden fires blow up in the shed no.4 of the warehouse of Multan Dry Port Trust. Said shed of the MDPT was placed with different goods and chemicals. Multan Dry Port Trust staff was busy in handling of cargo and suddenly fire erupted from warehouse.

The fire tenders of rescue 1122 were called in emergency and the adjacent area was evacuated by the Multan Dry Port Trust administration to avoid any unwanted situation. Rescue fire tenders rushed at the spot and took twenty to thirty minutes to extinguish the fire after which cooling process got started.

Sources told that huge quantity of Nitric acid in drums was placed along with papers and cloths. Electricity connection was not available in the shed and short circuit has not happened in the warehouse. During said incident almost goods of almost Rs.1 million have been burnt out. The cause of the fire in the Multan Dry Port Warehouse has not been identified yet.
