Firms face loss of EU access after failing to apply for customs IDs

London : hundreds of thousands of UK companies face losing access to EU markets in a “no-deal” Brexit because they have not completed even the most basic paperwork, the Government has warned.

Officials fear they will have to let ­vehicles through the border with no checks, ignoring their lack of paperwork simply to avoid a crisis of goods stuck outside the country.
