QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) has recovered large quantity of smuggled goods in two different operations near Darakhshan Bolan. The value of the seized goods comes to Rs100 million. The seized goods include cloth, fuel and betel nut.
According to sources, four vehicles used to transport the smuggled goods have also been seized. Chief Collector Baluchistan Muhammad Sadiq, Collector Preventive Khalid Hussain Jamali and Additional Collector Moen Afzal lauded the performance of Assistant Collector Haseeb Hasan, Senior ASO officer Fareed Rind, Inspector Salahuddin Khoso, Inspector Ishaq George and others.
Earlier, on 16.06.2022 in the evening a vehicle Toyota GLI Car bearing Registration No. BAP-713 (Sindh) was stopped at FIU, Yaroo which was driven by a driver namely, Abdul Manan son of Saloo, was asked to board off and he was questioned as to whether was carrying foreign origin contraband or smuggled goods in his possession.
The driver has denied the possession of any foreign origin contraband or smuggled goods in the vehicle. Thereafter, thorough search of the car was undertaken and 200 Wrist Watches of Foreign Origin having worth PKR 20,00,000/- were concealed in the tool box and from the inner cavities of the rear trunk of the car Foreign Currency worth US$200,000/- (PKR 41,400,000/-) and Saudi Riyal 930,000/- (PKR 49,290,000/-) were recovered.
Total worth of the seized goods along with car is Rs 95,190,000/-. FIR has been lodged against the driver for making an attempt for illegal trafficking of foreign currency and the smuggling of goods.
