SARAI MUHAJIR: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Field Investigation Unit (FIU)of Sarai Muhajir on Tuesday has impounded a non duty paid Hino truck with registration no LES-12-7741 model 19947 worth Rs 5 million involving customs duty and taxes of Rs 2.9 million.
Sources told Customs Today, that Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shouqat received a tip off about the non duty paid vehicles which are plying on roads. He constituted a team comprising of Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Mansoor Nasir, Ansar Saleemi, Adnan Ahmed Chandia Intelligence Officer (IO) Mukhtar Ahmed, Muhammad Usman Iqbal, Fakhar Abbas Sepoy.
The FIU team intercepted the said truck near Sargodha Road Bypass Faisalabad and asked the possessors of the vehicle identified as Aqeel Ahmed son of Muhammad Hanif to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle but they failed to do so. The FIU Sarai Muhajir team impounded the truck and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for legal proceeding
