FIU Sarai Muhajir impounds NDP Hino truck valued Rs5m

SARA-I-MUHAJIR: The Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Sarai Muhajir of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation impounded a non-duty paid Hino truck (6-wheeler) bearing registration no E-9693 DI Khan model 1997 worth Rs5 million involving customs duty and taxes of Rs2.4 million.

Sources told to Customs Today that Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shoukat received a tip-off about some non-duty paid vehicles which are plying on roads. He constituted a team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Mansoor Nasir, Intelligence Officer, Tajamal Haq, driver (havaldar) Muhammad Sajjad, and Khalil Ahmed, sepoy.

The FIU team intercepted the said truck near bypass Chowk Samunderi Road and asked the possessors of the vehicle identified as Sher Ahmed to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle but he failed to do so.

The FIU Sarai Muhajir team impounded the truck and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for legal proceeding.
