Five customs personnel wounded in Peshawar attack

PESHAWAR: Five Pakistan Customs pesonnel suffered injuries when unidentified attackers opened fire at them in Mattani area near Peshawar on Saturday night, police said.

Sources told that a customs team performing duty on the Indus Highway came under attack at around 22:20 hours. Five of them sustained injuries in the attack, but all of them were out of danger.

The wounded include Ubaid Rashid ul Haq, Razzaq Amin, Ejaz Hidayatullah and Waseem Khan.

The customs officials, who were attacked from two different locations on the main highway, retaliated but the armed men escaped.

The injured were immediately rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital for medical treatment. A search operation was launched to trace the suspects.
