LAHORE: The Anti-Narcotics Court, while deciding different cases, has sent five people involved in drug smuggling and selling behind the bars for different time limits, as allegations against them were proved in court.
As per the details, Special Judge Muhammad Khalid Nawaz heard the cases and passed the judgement after observing the arguments of both the parties in the cases.
The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested an accused named Nisar Ahmad at the Lahore airport for trying to smuggle almost 155kg cocaine to Dubai through a private airline. The officials also arrested his accomplice Zagham Abbas. The court awarded life imprisonment to the main culprit, Nisar Ahmad, and imposed a fine of Rs 300,000 on him. In case of non-payment of the penalty, the accused will have to remain in jail for another year.
On the other hand, Zagham Abbas was awarded a seven-year jail term and a penalty of Rs 15,000.
In another case, culprit Zahid Abbas Sahi also received a jail sentence of seven years by the court, as the ANF had recovered 7.1kg heroin from his possession.
Meanwhile, another person named Shamoon was sentenced to nine months in jail with a Rs 30,000 penalty for trafficking 2kg heroin.
In another case, a person named Matloob Masih was put behind the bars for six-and-a-half months, as the ANF had recovered 760 grammes of heroin from his possession.
