Five ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Five ships M.V Izumo, M.T Prosper, Express Black Sea, MSC Chicago and M.T Gas Log Seattle carrying General Cargo, containers and LNG were allotted berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Qasim International Containers Terminal and EETL Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Tuesday.

Berth occupancy was maintained at the port at 56% on Monday where a total of ten ships namely, M.T Prosper, Express Black Sea, MSC Chicago, Izumo, Chem Star, Nautical Alice, Gas Log Seattle, Star Trader, Ginga Puma and Pavino Spirit are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, General Cargo, Edible oil, Coal, LNG, Soya Bean Seeds, Phosphoric Acid and Furnace oil respectively.

Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood 10,4384 tonnes comprising 86240 tonnes import cargo and 18144 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1776 containers TEUs) 912 imports TEUs and 864 TEUs exports) was handled at the port.  Two ships C.V Prosper and Pavino Spirilt sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while four more Vessels MSC Chicago, Express Black Sea, Ginga Puma and Chem Tiger are expected to sail on same day.  A total six ships APL Columbu, Maersk Hartford, MSC Esthi, Jag Lavanya, Gas Coyssey and Sky Ploeg, carrying Containers, Furnace oil, Chemical and LCT are expected to take berths at QICT, FOTCO, EVTL and LCT respectively on Tuesday.
