Five ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Brisk shipping was recorded at the Port where five ships C.V Maersk Denver. C.V MSC Algciras. M.V Nicosia Pegasus, M.V Sinar Kutal and M.T YM Mirando international Container Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Tuesday, October 10.  Meanwhile two more ships. CMA CGM Narmada and Mu Don Song with containers and General cargo also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was reported at the Port at 59% on Tuesday where a total of ten ships namely Maersk Denver MSC Algeciras, MSC Mars, New Ark. lifa, Nicosia Pegasus. Sinar Kutal, YM Miranda, Epic Sardinia and Maistros were occupied to PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Coal, Chemicals, LPG and Diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.  Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood 136,906 tonnes, comprising 93,149 tonnes import cargo and 43,757 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,928 Containers TEUs, 2,625 TEUs imports and 2,303 TEUs exports was handled at the Port.  M.V lifa sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning while two more ships, Maersk Denver and Maistros are expected to sail on same day.  Four ships C.V CMA CGM Narmada, M.V Mu Dan Song, M.V Alliance Fairfax and M.T Lahore carrying Containers, General Cargo, Vehicles and Furnace oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW and FOTCO respectively on Wednesday, 11th October,while another containers vessel CMA CGM Indus is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday, 12th October-2017.
