Five ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Five ships Maipo, MSC Alice, Shi Zi Shan, UACC Sound and Bunga Angsana carrying containers, Coal, Furnace Oil and Palm Oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

Meanwhile an oil tanker Bunga Angelica carrying 33,000 tonne palm oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim (PQ) during the same period. Berth occupancy was observed at the port at sixty seven percent on Thursday where a total of ten ships namely, Maipo, MSC Alice, Maersk Surabay, Shi Zi Shan, Draft Slayer, Berlin, Gas Chem Adriatic, Argent Iris, Bunga Angsana and UACC Sound were occupied at PQA berth to load/offload Containers, Coal, Palm oil, Soya Bean Seeds, Chemical, LPG and Diesel Oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo through put during last 24 hours, stood at 166,684 tonnes, comprising 130,584 tonnes import cargo and 36,100 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,800 Containers (TUEs) 2,900 imports TUEs and 1,900 TUEs exports) was handled at the port.

Three ships Edible oil carrier Bunga Angsana, Chemical carrier Argent Iris and Container Vessel Maipo are expected to sail on Friday. Two ships Maersk Innoshima and Bunga Angelica carrying Containers and Palm oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and Liquid Terminal respectively on Thursday, while two more Container Vessel CMA CGM Tosco and TG Poseidon are due to arrive at PQ on
