Five ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Five ships Maersk Stepnica, Torrente, Han Yi, Khor Gas and Clipper Viking carrying containers, Project Cargo, LPG and Chemicals were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, SSGC Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

In the meantime four more ships Chemstar Nova, Rich Sino, DL Jasmine and Jia Hui Shan with 48,499 tonnes Palm oil, 18,322 tonnes Steel coil and 41,801 tonnes Coal also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim (PQ) during last 24 hours.

High side berth occupancy was recorded at the port at 80% on Wednesday where a total of twelve ships namely, Maersk Stepnica, Torrente, Maersk Atlanta, MSC Tomoko, Qing Hua Shan, Han Yi, Welhero, Clipper Viking, Khor Gas, Gaslog Skagen, Able Sailor and Harmony-1 were occupied PQA berth to load/offload Containers, Coal, Canola Seeds, Chemicals, LPG, LNG, Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling registered an upward trend at the Port on Wednesday where a cargo volume of 164,274 tonnes, comprising 125,400 tonnes import cargo and 38,874 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,046 Containers (TUEs) 2,000 imports TUEs & 2,046 TUEs exports) was handled during last 24 hours.  A total of five ships, MSC Tomoko, Qing Hua Shan, Han Yi, Khor Gas and Gaslog Skagen sailed out to sea on Thursday morning after to load/offload Containers, Coal, Project cargo, LPG and LNG while three more ships Clipper Viking, Able Sailor and Harmony-1 are expected to sail on same day afternoon.

Six ships namely, CMA CGM Nervel, YM Miranda, DL Jasmine, Tomson Gas, Chemstar Stellar and MTM New York carrying Containers, Chemicals, Steel coil, LPG, Palm oil and Phosphoric Acid are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal berth # 1 and 2, SSGC Terminal, Liquid Terminal and Engro Terminal respectively on Thursday April 13, while two more ships San Felix and Hugo Schulte are due to arrive at Port Qasim Friday April 14, 2017.
