Five ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Five ships, C.V Suez Chanel, M.V Orion Ocean, M.T Chemroad Journey, M.T Silver Phillipa and M.T Methane Heater carrying containers, Coal, Palm oil, Diesel oil and LNG were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Friday.

Meanwhile five more ships CCNI Arauco, Maritime Yuan, CTG Argon, Good Hope Max, and Ali Kip with Containers, Palm oil, Soya Bean and Palm oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was observed at the Port at 63% on Thursday where a total of ten ships namely, Suez Chanel, Maersk Savannah, Tianfu, Orion Ocean, Dione, Tomson Gas, Mathane Heater, Chemroad Journey, Chemroad Mega and Silver Phillipa were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload Containers, General, Coal, Soya Bean, LPG, LNG, Palm oil and Diesel oil respectively.

Cargo handling registered an upward trend at the port where a cargo volume of 155,594 tonnes, comprising 117,594 tonnes import cargo and 38,000 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,404 Containers (TUEs) 1,404 imports TUEs and 2,000 TUEs exports) was handled during last 24 hours.

Three ships M.T Tomson Gas, M.V Tianfu and M.V Orion Ocean sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships C.V Suez Chanel and C.V Mearsk Savannah are expected to sail on same day afternoon.  Four ships, C.V CNNI Arauco, C.V Hugo Schulte, M.V Ali Kip and M.T Globe Tanya carrying Containers, Coal and LPG are expected to take berths at QICT, MW2 and EVTL respectively on Friday, while C.V Fortune, C.V Hermes and M.T Al-Salam-II are due arrive at PQ on Saturday, May 13.
