Five ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Brisk shipping was recorded at the Port where five ships CV Lioyd Don Carlos, CV CMA CGM Tosca, CV Northern Magnum, MT Genuine Galaxy and MT Okyroe carrying Containers, Chemicals and Furnace oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO oil Terminal respectively.

In the meantime, two more ships MT As Orelia and MT Methane Heater Sally with Chemicals and LNG also got anchored at outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Berth occupancy remained at the Port at sixty seven percent on Tuesday where a total of nine ships namely CV Lioyd Don Carlos, CV CMA CGM Tosca, CV Norther Magnum, MV An African, MV Da Yu Xia, MV Intuition, MT Genuine Galaxy, MT Able Sailor and MT Okyroe are currently occupying terminals to load/offload Containers, Cement General cargo, Canole Seeds, Chemical, Palm oil and Furnace oil, Coal and Furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling operation were carried out efficiently at the Port where a cargo volume of 107,292 tonnes, comprising 65,378 tonnes import cargo and 41,914 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carrying 2,446 Containers (TEUs) (1,353 imports TEUs & 2,086 TEUs exports) was handled during last 24 hours.

Two ships MT Able Sailor and MV Intuition sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning while two more ships MV Da Ya Xia and CV Northern Magnum are expected to sail on same day afternoon.

Four ships CV Maersk Stepnica, MV Orion 3, MV Horizon and MT Methane Heater Sally carrying Containers, Soya Bean seeds, Palm oil and LNG are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
