FJWU holds anti-drug awareness seminar

RAWALPINDI: The Department of Public Administration, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) on Wednesday arranged an anti-drug awareness seminar to educate the students about the negative effects of drugs.

Assistant Director, Anti-Narcotics Force, (ANF) North Region, Jibran Yousaf Zai was guest speaker who enlightened the students about different types of drugs including Narcotics, Stimulants, Depressants, Cannabis, Inhalants and Steroids which have physical and psychological effects.The students were informed about the symptoms of drug addicts and advised to help the drug addict patients to recover.

The seminar was organized to create awareness among the students under the ANF slogan ‘Say No to Drugs’. It illuminated the legislations regarding Narcotics in Pakistan including the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997 and Anti-Narcotics Force Act, 1997.

Islam prohibits use of any intoxicant and it is widely agreed fact that drugs are ‘Haram’ in Islam and injurious to human body. There are almost nine million drug addicts in Pakistan.Later, the department organized a walk which was attended by a large number of students, Faculty and staff members.
