KABUL: The prices flour and fuel declined during the outgoing week in Kabul, but of other food items remained unchanged, market sources said on Thursday.
Abdul Hadi, a filling station worker in Wazirabad locality, told Pajhwok Afghan News one liter of petrol’s rate declined from 40 afghanis to 38 afs this week and the same amount of diesel fell from 33afs to 32 afs.
Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta neighborhood, sold a kilogram of gas for 40afs against last week’s 45afs.
Per 560 kilograms of unpeeled oak sold for 6,400afs against its last week’s 6500 afs and the same quantity of cedar declined from 6300 afs to 6200 afs, said a firewood stall owner in Charah-i-Shaheed locality, Khan Mohammad.
The flour price declined during the going week. Food Traders Union head Fazal Rahman said the price of a 49-kilogram of Kazakhstani flour decreased from 1,280afs to 1,260afs.
The rates of other daily-use items remained unchanged as a 49-kg of sugar bag was sold at 1,800afs, 16-litre tin of Momin ghee for 950afs and 24-kg of rice for 1650 afs.
The price of a kg of Indonesian green tea cost 220afs and same quantity of African black tea 240afs, dealer Fazal Ahmad in Kabul food market said.
But a retailer in Dahn-i-Bagh area of Kabul, Ahmad Javed, sold a 49-kg bag of flour for 1,380afs, a 49-kg sack of sugar for 1,950afs and a 24-kg bag of rice for 1,900afs.
He sold a 16-liter tin of Momin ghee for 1,050afs, a kilo of African black tea for 270afs and the same quantity of Madina green tea for 260afs — higher than wholesale prices.
Mohammad Fawad, a jeweller in Timor Shahi neighbourhood, said the gold prices saw no changes when one gram of Arabian gold was sold for 2,100afs and the same quantity of the Russian variety at 1,750afs.
According to Sadaqat Exchange services, the buying rate of one US dollar was 68.80afs, while 1,000 Pakistani rupees accounted for 640afs. Last week’s exchange value of the dollar stood at 68.60afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 638afs.
