KARACHI: UAE-based carrier flydubai has suspended its flight operations to and from Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar until October 26, citing operational reasons, according to the airline’s inquiry office in Pakistan.
The airline confirmed that its services to Karachi will continue as normal, providing some relief for travellers amid wider disruptions.
flydubai had launched operations to Islamabad and Lahore in July 2024, later expanding to Peshawar in May the following year. However, recent data from Flightradar24 shows that multiple routes — including Islamabad–Dubai, Lahore–Dubai and Peshawar–Dubai — have been cancelled since early May.
In a statement issued earlier, the airline said it is currently operating a reduced schedule across its network and advised passengers to check flight status regularly before travelling.
While the airline did not directly link the suspension to the ongoing Iran conflict, it acknowledged that it is closely monitoring the situation and adjusting operations accordingly, stressing that passenger and crew safety remains its top priority.
The disruption comes amid a broader aviation crisis triggered by rising geopolitical tensions. The ongoing conflict involving Iran has contributed to a sharp increase in jet fuel prices, placing financial pressure on airlines worldwide.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has warned that Asia could be among the hardest-hit regions, with airlines expected to scale back schedules during peak travel periods due to potential fuel shortages.
