FO directs PIA to refund passenger’s money

ISLAMABAD: Federal Ombudsman has directed Pakistan International Airline (PIA) to refund ticket money for wrongly offloading a Saudi Arabia bound handicapped overseas Pakistani passenger Amjid Pervez Siddiqui last year.

Senior Advisor Law and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar declared PIA’s action against a handicapped persons was oppressive, unjust and unreasonable. Khokar directed PIA to submit compliance report within 30 days. As per details an overseas Pakistani Amjid Pervez Siddiqui was offloaded from the plane due to absence of attendant with him despite that fact that a friend and a niece was travelling with him in the same flight.

As per details, the complainant travelling through PIA flight PK-725 from Lahore to Riyadh on November 5, 2015 has alleged that Tahir Waheed, a crew member degraded him and used abusive language besides offloading him from the flight.

Hafiz Ahsan Ahmad Khokhar (Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis) stated that the case was heard by two member committee headed by Taimur Azmat Osman (senior advisor) and Mst Nuzrat Bashir (Senior Advisor) in Federal Ombudsman.
