For those who have followed the Mustang’s evolution for more than 50 years in the US, the 2016 model is being offered with new wheels and racing stripes among the options designed to allow owners to better customize their car.

For 2016, Ford brings back the hood vent-integrated turn signals as a standard feature on the Mustang GT. Secondary turn signals in the hood vents is a feature that dates back to the 1967 Mustang.

“Mustang enthusiasts are not shy about telling us what they want,” said Melanie Banker, Mustang marketing manager, “and we’re constantly exploring ideas together with our engineering team to develop new features we know our customers will love. These new hood vent indicators for the GT model are a perfect example of us communicating customer feedback to Mustang engineers and the team responding with an exclusive new feature for owners of the 2016 Mustang GT.”

The racing stripes are offered in silver or black and come direct from the factory. Another option is a painted black roof on some models, similar to the roof of the Boss 302 of a few years ago,

The Pony Package is offered on the Premium trim level of the fastback and upgrades the car with unique 19-inch polished aluminum wheels, tri-bar pony logo on the grille, side stripe and chrome window surround.

There is also a new Black Accent Package for the Mustang GT fastback as well as convertible with special 19-inch black-painted alloy wheels, black decklid spoiler, dark taillamp trim, and 5.0 and pony logos in black.

Mustang GT Premium owners can order the California Special Package that has a long list of features including 19-inch ebony-painted machined aluminum wheels, unique grille, door panel inserts and carpet, aluminum dashboard finish with California Special badge, hood and side stripes, a black spoiler, faux gas cap, black mirrors and hood vents and other touches.

Buyers of a Mustang GT convertible with a manual transmission can order a Performance Package for 2016, as well, with a tuned chassis, revised suspension and other upgrades.
