For March-23 Pakistan Day Parade, Pemra bans media coverage with drone cameras

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of Pemra, law-enforcers and armed forces banned the use of all drone cameras for any kind of coverage by TV channels in the wake security concerns ahead of March-23.

It also directed the authorities concerned to shoot down the drone cameras of TV channels in case of violation. The meeting was attended by representatives of Pemra, law-enforcement agencies and armed forces.

It discussed that the licenses of TV channels, who would be found guilty of breach of directives may also be revoked followed by heavy fines.

World over drone cameras are used under certain rules and regulations but TV channels in Pakistan have indulged in this practice without any kind of regulation, it was observed. Pemra in its directive issued to all Satellite TV Licensees warned not to use any kind of Quad Copter Helicams / Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAVs) / Drone Cameras without the approval of the local administration especially on the forthcoming event of Pakistan Parade.
