NEW YORK: Ford has revealed it will arrive at the Shanghai Auto Show with no less than seven new models, including the new Taurus large sedan.
The Taurus name will soon join Ford’s line-up in China for the first time as a China-only model, developed by the global carmaker as a flagship sedan for the Chinese market.
A new Taurus is also due to be unveiled in the US later this year, but exactly which features the US model will share with the Chinese version (if any) is unclear at this stage.
Ford is also keeping mum on specifications for the Taurus – either in China or the US.
“We are looking forward to taking the wraps off seven new vehicles for our customers in China and continuing our delivery of great products and innovative technologies,” Ford China CEO, John Lawler, said.
“With the new Ford Taurus our Ford Performance vehicles and a few other surprises, there will truly be something for everyone.”
The Ford GT supercar will also make its first Chinese appearance in Shanghai, joined by the Focus ST, Focus RS and Fiesta ST at Ford’s performance stand.
Visitors will also be able to sample a virtual race track experience, or take to the wheel of a Focus ST racing simulator.
Ford is targeting ‘connected’ customers in Shanghai, with a 360-dgeree Cloud Camera experience and a SYNC virtual reality experience also on show.
The Taurus forms part of Ford’s wider Chinese plan, with the carmaker in the recent past promising 15 new models for the Chinese market by the end of this year.
