OTTAWA: The second-generation Ford Edge comes with an all-new 2-liter engine, but it has the same highway and combined fuel-economy ratings as the 2-liter version of the outgoing Edge.

he approach is similar to what Ford did with the aluminum-bodied F-150, emphasizing the additional toughness and capability more prominently than the modest improvement in its fuel-economy ratings. But it leaves open an opportunity for rivals to leapfrog the Edge in the coming years. The Honda Crosstour, a slow-selling Accord variant that Ford lists among the Edge’s competitors, already beats the new Edge by 1 mpg.

Powering the new 2015 Ford Edge is a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine with twin scroll turbocharger and direct-injection. The engine will be delivering 245hp and 275lb ft of torque. Ford will also be offering customers the 3.5 liter V6 naturally aspirated engine or the Edge Sport model which will come with a 2.7 liter V6 engine with twin-turbo. All engines will be mated to a six speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

The cabin comes with all the necessary equipments and features, but the design feels a little bit too dull.

They will also be offering their customers a 302A options pack which will give customers some additional features like heated back seats, heated steering wheel, remote start, blind spot monitoring system, grille mounted camera, HID Headligths, heated and cooled front seats, active park assist and more.

The base Ford Edge model will retail for $28,100. The All Wheel Drive system will cost an extra $1,495 while the 302A pack will cost $5,645.
