BANGKOK: Ford has unveiled its new Everest SUV in Bangkok with crucial off-road capabilities. The Ford Everest SUV is set to take on its rivals Holden Colorado 7 & Isuzu MU-X in the markets.
Ford Everest SUV was before revealed in Australian in March. Due in Australia in the third quarter of 2015, the Everest packages a seven-seat layout with a capable body-on-frame design, Intelligent Four-Wheel-Drive and the new Terrain Management System previewed in recent weeks.
Along with its crucial off-road capabilities, Ford also promises “exceptional” ride comfort in daily driving when compared with key rivals like the Holden Colorado 7 and Isuzu MU-X, and the Mitsubishi Challenger.
Like the updated Ranger, the Everest will boast a number of segment firsts, including Curve Control, blindspot monitoring with Cross Traffic Alert and the semi-automated Active Park Assist that first debuted with the small Focus.
Other firsts for the segment include powered folding for the third-row seats and a powered liftgate
Ford’s SYNC2 infotainment system will also feature, incorporating an eight-inch centre display with satellite navigation, media connectivity and intelligent voice-activated controls.
A 10-speaker audio system with integrated subwoofer will also be available, again claiming a segment-first for the Everest.
As detailed in November, the Everest will be offered with two Duratorq TDCi diesel powertrains: a 147kW/470Nm 3.2 litre five-cylinder and a 118kW/385Nm 2.2 litre four-cylinder.
Local trim grades are still to be confirmed, although former Ford Australia and now Asia Pacific PR boss, Sinead Phipps, told TMR in China last year that “Australia and New Zealand will get the most sophisticated models,” adding that buyers here “expect high levels of features”.
