NEW YORK: Ford introduced its new Edge SCV with a powerful 2.7 litre turbocharged petrol V6 at the top end of the range this week in US, the new front-wheel-drive Edge Sport offers 235kW and 474Nm of torque, with fuel use listed at 11.2 l/100km.

As the line-up’s new flagship, the Edge Sport enters above the already powerful 183kW four-cylinder turbo and 212kW 3.5 litre V6 petrol options

The new model also boasts a sharpened sports kit inside and out, along with a sports-tuned suspension package with 15 percent stiffer front and rear anti-roll bars.

There are also larger dampers at the rear, along with 10 percent stiffer springs that contribute to a 20 percent reduction in body roll over the previous model.

Officially, the Edge is no nearer the Australian market than it was when it rolled out of the shadows last year, and Ford is unlikely to discuss its post-Territory plans until the big Aussie-built SUV’s closes in on retirement.
