LONDON: The boss of Ford Australia Bob Graziano has played down blue oval’s decision to attack against the Toyota.
Ford has targeted Toyota and its cars with its recent press releases for the Mondeo mid-size car, Kuga SUV and Ranger ute.
A recent press release for the Mondeo claimed that the car will have 10 technologies not available on its Japanese rival as well as claiming that the diesel will be more fuel efficient than the Camry Hybrid.
Asked if Ford’s decision to target Toyota in its marketing and press material was an way of staking a claim for the number one position in the sales charts, Graziano tried to play the attacks down.
For us it’s a great opportunity for us to talk about the new products, the new technology we’re bringing, many of them are class leading technologies,” he said.
Graziano danced around the question when asked directly if Ford is targeting number one in sales.
“What we want is we want to continue to focus in on loyalty, customer satisfaction by offering the great products and offering you’ve seen today… and allow the customers to determine that,” he said.
When asked if the Toyota attacks were working, the Ford boss remained non-committal.
“They’re very early days,” he said.
“We’re showing the consumers the technologies and the benefits of those technologies.”
