Foreign reserves stand at $13,922.4m, SBP keeps $9203.1m after $83m debt payment

KARACHI: The total liquid foreign reserves held by the country stood at 13, 922.4 million dollars on December 5, 2014.

Giving a break up of the foreign reserves position, a statement of Central Bank issued here on Thursday said that foreign reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) stood at 9,203.1 million dollars while the net foreign reserves held by banks stood at 4,719.3 million dollars.

The SBP statement said that during the week ending December 5, 2014, SBP’s liquid foreign exchange reserves increased by 981 million dollars to 9, 203 million dollars compared to 8, 222 dollars million in the previous week.

During the week SBP received 1, 000 million dollars against issuance of Pakistan Sukuk Bonds and 41 million dollars from multilateral, bilateral and other sources.

During the week SBP made payments of 83 million dollars on account of external debt servicing and other official payments.
