JAKARTA: The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded a decrease in the number of foreign tourist visit on June 2016 of 6.29 percent to 8,577,000 people from the previous month of 9,152,000 people.
“On June 2016, the decline occurred at 19 main entrances in two foreigner tourist groups; regular and special,” BPS Chief Suryamin said in a statement on Monday, August 1, 2016.
Suryamin said the number of foreign tourist visit via 19 main entrances reached 8,056,000 people consisting of 7,842,000 regular foreign tourists and 215,000 special foreign tourists.
Meanwhile, for foreign tourists outside of those 19 main entrances, Suryamin recorded 52,000 people consisting of 211,000 tourist border crossing and other travelers of 309,000 people.
The decrease, Suryamin said, was due to the fasting month coincidentally came in June 2016. “In June 2015, a decline of foreign tourist visit also occurred of 1.69 percent from previously 8,724,000 visits.”
Suryamin added that the number of foreign visit mostly originated from Singapore that reached 132,031 people, followed by China with 115,840 people, and Australia with 113,672 people.
“Meanwhile, 79,365 people came from Malaysia, and 34,629 people were from Japan,” said Suryamin.
Throughout the first half period of January-July 2016, the number of foreign visit to Indonesia reached 5,290,000 people or up by 5.88 percent compared to the number of foreign visit on the same period last year with 5,000,000 people.
