Four ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Four ships, Maersk Kinloss, MSC Heidi, Victoria Harbour and Chang AN carrying containers, Steel Coil and Animal Feed were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal (MW-1 & 2) respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Wednesday.

Berth occupancy was managed at the port at 55% on Tuesday where a total of nine ships namely, Maersk Kinloss, MSC Heidi, Victoria Harbour, Chang AN, Ocean Prefect, Gong Ying-1, Kenta, White Purl and SCF Pioneer were currently occupied at PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Steel Coil, Animal Feed, Coal, Soya Bean Seeds, LPG, Palm oil and Diesel oil respectively.

Cargo handling during last 24 hours stood at 105,727 tonnes, comprising 66,352 tonnes import cargo and 39,375 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2515 containers (TEUs), (640 TEUs imports and 1875 TEUs exports) was handled at the port.  Two ships, SCF Pioneer and Victoria Harbour sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships M.V Ocean Prefect and M.V Maersk Kinloss are expected to sail on same day in the afternoon.  Three ships, Lion M, Chemroad Queen and DA Kang are expected to take berths at FOTCO Terminal, EVTK Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
