KARACHI: Four ships CMA CGM Maupassant, Gas Esco, YM Mirinda and Asia Emerald-II and carrying containers, LPG, Chemicals and Coal were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal berth # 1 and 2 respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Friday. Meanwhile three more ships Tucapel, Gas Pian Gas and MR Arcturus carrying Containers, LPG and Canola oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was observed at the Port at 56% on Thursday where a total of nine ships namely, CMA CGM Maupassant, CMA CGM Indus, APL Miami, YM Mirinda, Asia Emerald-II, Iris Oldendroff, Iris-II, Gas Esco and M.lion are currently occupying berth to load/offload Containers, Chemicals, Coal, Soya Bean and Furnace oil respectively. Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 158,494 tonnes, comprising 123,952 tonnes import cargo and 34,542 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,029 Containers (TUEs) 1,211 imports TUEs and 1,818 TUEs exports) was handled at the Port. Chemicals carriers YM Mirinda sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships CMA CGM Maupassant, Iris-II and M Lion are expected to sail on same day afternoon.
Four ships C.V Tucapel, C.V Maersk Izmir, M.V Dione and M.T Sovereign carrying Containers, 64,199 tonnes Soya Bean and 55,724 tonnes Diesel oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Grain, Fertilizer Terminal and Fotco Terminal respectively on Friday, while C.V CMA Vrgina and C.V TG Poseidon are due arrive at PQ on May 06.
