Four ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Four ships Maerk Savannah, Al-Rakayyat, Bahara and Wlady Slaw Orkan carrying containers, LNG, diesel oil and project cargo were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

Meanwhile four more ships with Containers, LPG, Phosphoric Acid and Furnace oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim (PQ) during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was maintained at the port at 53% on Wednesday where a total of eight ships namely Maersk Savannah, MSC Albany, Teo, Wlady slaw Orkan, Thalassini, White Purl, Al-Rekayyat and Bahara are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, General Cargo, Slag, Canola Seeds, LPG and Furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling remained upward trend at the port on Wednesday where a cargo volume of 167,274 tonnes, comprising 134,936 tonnes import cargo and 32,338 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,085 containers TEUs) 2,383 imports TUEs & 1,702 TUEs exports) was handled during last 24 hours.  Two ships, LPG carrier ‘White Purl’ and Bulk cargo carrier ‘Teo’ sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while Containers ships MSC Albany is expected to sail on same day.

Three ships C.V Maipo, M.T M.Gas and M.T Chemroad Quest carrying Containers, LPG and Chemical are expected to take berths at QICT, SSGC and EVTL respectively on Thursday, while M.T Neptus-D is due to arrive at PQ on same day and Container ships CMA CGM Tosca, Maersk Innoshima and LPG carrier North Gas are due to arrive on Friday.
