Five trucks loaded with bananas & peanuts impounded by Customs nowshehra

PESHAWAR: The customs officials at the Customs House Peshawar took into possession four truckloads of bananas on Monday at Nowshehra. The customs staff also impounded one truckload of 15000kg of peanuts at Pabbi area of Nowshehra.

The customs official informed Customs Today on Monday that four trucks of bananas were taken into possession in a routine checking carried out by the ASO Nowshehra at Pabbi area on GT Road.

The customs staff inquired from the drivers about the papers but they failed to prove the legal status of goods loaded on the trucks. So the drivers were arrested and an FIR was registered against them under the Customs Act-1969.

Another attempt of smuggling was frustrated by the customs officials on GT Road when a truck bearing registration No: HNR-3195 loaded with 15,000kg of peanuts was impounded by the ASO Nowshehra.

The customs staff arrested the accused who revealed that the peanuts were being smuggled into Afghanistan via Torkham Border.

The Anti-Smuggling Units of the Customs-FBR Peshawar are working hard under the leadership of Collector Customs Muhammad Saeed Jadoon to beat the menace of smuggling which is causing the customs exchequer big losses.
