FPCCI chief appoints Dr Baig as Pak-UAE Business Council chairman for 2015

KARACHI: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) President Mian M Idrees has appointed Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig as Chairman of Pak-UAE Business Council of FPCCI for 2015.

Dr Baig is a leading industrialist and Chairman Baig Group, having diversified business interests in Pakistan, UAE and Morocco, says a press release on Tuesday.

Dr Baig, due to his old business establishment in UAE for the last many decades, has good contacts with the royal family and business community in UAE. He had represented private sector at the Pak-UAE Joint Ministerial Commissions, headed by foreign ministers of both countries in Abu Dhabi and Islamabad.

Dr Baig was instrumental to take businessmen delegation to UAE, resulting substantial increase in bilateral trade and investment between UAE and Pakistan. The UAE was declared highest foreign investor in Pakistan. It is hoped that Dr Baig’s appointment will further improve the relationship between the two countries.
