FPCCI delegation to attend SCO Business Forum in Russia

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI) led by its President Mian Muhammad Adrees will visit Russian Federation this month to attend a meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Business Forum to be held in St. Petersburg to further promote trade in the region and especially with Russian Federation.

Russian Federation embassy spokesman on Tuesday, while giving the details of the visit said SCO Business Forum will be held on June 18 at St. Petersburg on the opening day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Chairman of the Board of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Foundation Sergey Belyakov, said so far 698 foreign participants have confirmed their participation in the forum which is more than 590 foreign participants attended this forum last year.

He said the foreign businessmen will represent 383 foreign companies, and 170 of them are the top officials of their companies.

The Joint SCO-BRICS Business Forum, which will also be held on the same day, will focus on the current state and potential of trade, economic and investment cooperation among the BRICS countries and ways to stimulate economic revival in the group’s countries.

They also plan to exchange opinions on cooperation in implementing multilateral projects, financing SCO economic programmes and making use of other market opportunities.

The business forum participants will also discuss developing and strengthening interregional ties, creating a favourable business environment, harmonising trade legislation and other issues.

The agenda also includes issues related to the Eurasian Economic Union.
