FPCCI election campaign at its peak

LAHORE: The different groups have speed up their campaign for annual election of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI).

In this regard, the core committee of United Business Group has visited Multan and Bahawalpur. Trade Development Authority Pakistan Chief Executive SM Muneer, who is also patron-in-chief of United Business Group (UBG), enjoying 85 percent overwhelming majority in FPCCI, said that the best of the best dedicated candidates, enjoying the highest degree of integrity especially the educated youth, would fielded against the one seat of Senior Vice President and 10 Vice Presidents including one woman with consensus in a democratic manner, he added.

He said a high level 20 member core committee comprising senior trade leaders drawn from the all provinces, headed by Chairman UBG Iftikhar Ali Malik before nomination would conduct the interviews of the aspiring candidates keeping in view their professional standing and their contribution towards national development. The core committee today left for Multan and proceed to Bahawalpur on November 2 for meeting with the chamber presidents of southern Punjab for mustering support for the presidential candidate Abdul Rauf Alam from Islamabad.

Prominent among them were S.M.Muneer, Iftikhar Ali Malik, Abdul Rauf Alam, S.M.Naseer, Zubair Ahmad Malik, Mian Akram Farid, Muzammal Hussain Sabri, Hameed Akhtar Chadda, Mirza Akhtiar Baig, Zahid Maqbool and Tahir Malik etc.

Outgoing President FPCCI Muhammad Adrees claimed that UBG swept regional chamber elections across the country as the overall performance of the group was unprecedented and firmly believed in true democratic norms.

Group General Secretary Zubair Tufail said, “We have visited the chambers of Lahore, Okara, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Vehari, Sargodha, Sialkot, Gujrat, Kasur, Khanewal, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Mardan, Peshawar Larkana, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Karachi and Balochistan”.

He said core committee would also visit Islamabad from November 3 to 4 and Peshawar on November 5.
