KARACHI: As situation is very tense at Torkhum, not a single person or a cargo truck could cross the border during the last three days. The Afghan Transit Trade has also come to a grinding halt due to curfew in the area and security reasons. Secretary General of Businessmen Panel of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and  Industry (FPCCI) and former Senator Haji Ghulam Ali has condemned the aggression by the Afghan security forces at the Torkhum border.

Talking to Customs Today, he said that due to the current security situation at the Pak-Afghan border, the trade between both countries will be on halt but Afghanistan will have to bear more losses than Pakistan.

Ali said that Pakistan is a major exporter of goods to Afghanistan but imports very few things from that country.

Demanding the peaceful condition at the border areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan, Senator Haji Ghulam Ali has also asked the government of Afghanistan to remember the sacrifices of Pakistan. He said that in activating the peace at borders, planning to make Asia as a trade hub and equality in relations among the neighbouring countries is a big effort of Pakistan.

Ghulam Ali also advised Afghan traders to pressurize their government to make peace with Pakistan which is in the interest of both the countries. Former Senator Haji Ghulam Ali also asked the Afghan government for early resolving the security issues. Earlier Pakistan has several times called the Afghan Foreign Minister in Pakistan and have recorded the strong protest against the firing of Afghan security forces on the Pakistani check post situated at Torkhum the bordering area of Afghanistan.
