France’s car sales climb 13% in Feb

PARIS: France sold more new cars in February compared to the same month last year, the French car sales federation (CCFA) said on Tuesday.

At the end of February, local car manufacturers sold 199,948 units across France, up from 176,993 vehicles sold the same month in 2015.

Sales of French brands grew by 12.1 percent mainly due to growing sales of Renault. The second largest car maker in France, Dacia, sold 14.9 percent more cars with sales of its low-cost brand rising sharply by 30.1 percent.

As for PSA Peugeot Citroen group, the country’s number one car maker, saw its sales increase by 9.8 percent, the CCFA added in a statement.

Foreign brands showed a rising trend with sales of 88,040 vehicles to the French market.
