PARIS: France’s government budget deficit at the end of November was 82.8 billion euros ($90.1 billion), down from EUR90.8 billion at the same time a year ago, the French government said on Friday.
France’s general government revenues hit EUR261.6 billion at the end of November, a 2.1% increase over last year, while its expenses fell to EUR340 billion, a 1% decrease.
The government’s budget law calls for the deficit to fall to EUR73 billion by the end of the year. France is under pressure from the European Union to bring its deficit under 3% of gross domestic product, the limit set under EU rules, after many years following the economic crisis in which the deficit has stayed above 3%.
