Fruit exports up 44.64pc in 1st quarter

Lahore: The exports of fruits from the country increased by 44.64 percent during the first quarter of the current fiscal year as against the same period of last year.

The overall fruit exports during July-September (2013-14) were recorded at $92.027 million against the exports of $63.624 million in July-September (2012-13), according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

In rupees term, the fruit exports increased from Rs.6,011 million last year to Rs.9,473 million, showing an increase of 57.59 percent.

Meanwhile, on year-on-year basis, the exports of fruit increased by 63.33 percent in September 2013 when compared to the exports of September 2012.

The fruit exports during September 2013 were recorded at $33.169 million against the exports of $20.308 recorded in September 2012.

On month-on-month basis, the exports of fruits during September 2013 increased by 19.59 percent when compared to the exports of $27.736 million in August 2013, the PBS data revealed.
