FST adjourns hearing of cases filed by FBR employees until Sept 12

ISLAMABAD: A division bench of the Federal Service Tribunal (FST) on Monday adjourned the hearing of ‘promotion’ and ‘seniority’ related cases until September 12.

A division bench of the FST comprising members, Syed Rafique Hussain Shah and Syed Muhammad Hamid, were hearing the cases filed by employees of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Raza Ashfaq Sheikh had filed the case regarding promotion while Muhammad Saleem, Dr Iftikhar Ahmed, Muhammad Junaid Jalil Khan and Syed Shakeel Shah had filed seniority related petitions.

They heard submissions of appellants and the department counsel who stated that case of similar nature were also being heard by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The counsel also submitted that decision of Supreme Court would set the legal standard for the cases carrying promotion and seniority matters. Therefore the Federal Service Tribunal may adjourned the hearings keeping in view the on-going hearing at SC in order to wait for apex court’s verdict on the matters. The bench accepted counsels suggestion and adjourned hearing for September.
