ISLAMABAD: The National Power Electric Regulatory Authority has allowed Fatima Transmission Company Limited (FTCL) to construct and own transmission facilities.
The Special Purpose Transmission Licence was granted to FTCL for setting up a 37-km-long transmission line for transmitting 120MW electricity from generation facilities to supply to a number of Bulk Power Consumers under a bid to privatise the country’s power sector.
According to the Nepra, the decision was in line with the approval of federal government in 1992, aimed to bring efficiency and competition in the sector through unbundling of public sector entities. Fatima Energy is a part of Fatima group owned by business tycoon Arif Habib.
