FTO assures redressal of tax related issues on priority basis

LAHORE: Fazal Yazdani Khan Advisor Customs of the Federal Tax Ombudsman visited Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) and made a presentation of services provided by FTO to the business community of Pakistan to speedily address their problems without fear and favour.

Irfan Iqbal Sheikh President, Main Zahid Sheikh Vice President with Rehmatullah Javed were the prominent in this session of awareness.

The businessmen and LCCI office bearers informed the FTO about the high rate of interest and need to bring down the rate of intres down. They also said that tax system need reforms in accordance with international standard.

The FTO was quoted ensuring the office bearers on merits decisions of the cases and early clearance of back logs. He was also quoted as saying that businessmen are free to contact him for their problems redressal.

Talking about the new system, the Adviser said the FBR launched FASTER system without any trial and did not even put in place a feedback system to make improvements.

“The FTO has the mandate under which it plays its role, however, it also can make recommendations if it sees any malfunctioning system..

Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI office-bears said that the new FBR system encountered a large number of technical glitches but they could not do anything about it.

It was suggested that the FBR should establish a separate consultation department, which should advise what steps a particular exporter should take to get the issues resolved.

They suggested that the system should give details like the Web-Based One Customs (WeBoc) system of Pakistan Customs and provide detailed information.
