MULTAN: Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah has said that Federal Tax Ombudsman Office (FTO) was committed to facilitate taxpayers in order to improve business friendly environment in the country.
The Federal Tax Ombudsman Asif Mahmood Jah reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Federal Tax Ombudsman Office to swiftly address taxpayer concerns, underlining its pivotal role in fostering a conducive business environment. He said that complaints pertaining to FBR taxes were being resolved as early as possible. The access to Ombudsman Office is very easy.
He said that some sub-judice cases were pending for years and depending upon nature, were also processed. FTO is offering equal facility either small businessmen or giants, he added.
Quoting example of a single minor complain, the FTO has resolved not only that particular complain but also resolved the same problem faced by 1.4 million taxpayers, he hinted Speaking at a prestigious ceremony hosted by the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jah emphasized the Office’s proactive approach in promptly resolving complaints related to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) taxes, with an emphasis on accessibility and efficiency.
Asif Jah informed that billions of rupees were refunded to the taxpayers. He disclosed that significant refunds have been swiftly disbursed to deserving taxpayers, underscoring the Office’s proactive stance towards financial rectification. He maintained that FTO was taking every possible steps to provide maximum facilitation.
Jah underscored the seamless accessibility of the Ombudsman Office, stressing its dedication to providing expeditious solutions to taxpayer issues, thereby minimizing disruptions to business operations and facilitating economic growth. Notably, he highlighted the Office’s impartial treatment of businesses, irrespective of their size or stature, reflecting its commitment to fairness and equity in addressing tax-related disputes.
Illustrating the tangible impact of the Office’s interventions, Jah cited a compelling example where a minor complaint led to the resolution of issues affecting a substantial number of taxpayers, showcasing the ripple effect of effective redressal mechanisms. Furthermore encouraging proactive engagement from the business community, Jah urged stakeholders to promptly report any grievances they encounter, emphasizing the potential benefits for themselves and others affected by similar issues. Moreover, he cautioned that non-compliance with the Office’s directives could result in stringent measures for FBR officers, ensuring accountability within the tax framework.
Highlighting the Office’s impressive track record, Jah revealed that over 94% of complaints received during the preceding year were effectively resolved, demonstrating its commitment to addressing taxpayer grievances in a timely and efficient manner. The event, attended by prominent figures including the President of the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rashid Iqbal, Additional Collector Shah Faisal Sahu, Deputy Collector Maryam Jamila, Assistant Collector Zaigham Ali and representatives from the Regional Tax Office (RTO)Multan, legal professionals and other stakeholders, served as a testament to the collaborative efforts aimed at promoting a business-friendly environment conducive to sustainable economic development.
