FTO office to launch website comprising details of cases, decisions

ISLAMABAD: Office of the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has decided to launch a website by the name of ‘Digital journal’. The website will provide details of cases and decisions of Pakistan’s FTO as well as other countries’ Tax Ombudsmen offices.

Sources told Customs Today that Federal Tax Ombudsman Chaudhry Abdur Rauf directed to launch the website after a presentation.

The website will also provide details of those cases of Federal Tax Ombudsman against which President of Pakistan was appealed and consequently the President commuted the decision of FTO. The website will show the details of reasons of the commuted decisions.

In the initial stage, the website will provide details of major cases including container cases. Moreover, letters will be dispatched to other countries’ Tax Ombudsmen offices to provide the details of important cases and decisions on the website.

Informal agreements in this regard had been obtained from the representatives of various countries during the Tax Ombudsman Forum meeting held in Islamabad.

Sources said that display of the cases and the decisions will be highly beneficial for the taxpayers. Such information will be able to be downloaded as well.
