The counsel added that the field formation collected excessive tax from taxpayers during last three years. The petitioners approached the commissioner concerned many times for refunds but no action was taken in this regard.

At the end, the appellants decided to approach Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) to interfere in this case and direct the Gujranwala RTO to clear the pending refund claims as early as possible, the counsel argued, adding that the RTO Gujranwala should clear the refunds at the end of fiscal year but it did not do the same.

On the other side, counsel for RTO Gujranwala argued that the RTO has ready to settle the case after assessment. After hearing the arguments from both sides, Advisor of FTO Mian Munawar Ghafoor adjourned the case until next date for further hearing and directed the parties to appear on the said date.
