FTO postpones hearing of Lalpir Power Limited versus LTU case

LAHORE: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has adjourned the hearing of a case filed by M/s Lalpir Power Limited against Large Taxpayer Lahore (LTU), Lahore, until the next date of hearing.

According to the details, Advisor to Federal Tax Ombudsman Tariq Yousaf heard the case in which the counsel for the complainant Maqsood Ahmed represented M/s Lalpir Power Limited Lahore. Advocate argued that the LTU remained fail to make payment of tax refund claims to the company during the last two years.

The counsel added that the field formation collected excessive tax from taxpayers during last two years. The petitioners approached the commissioner concerned in LTU many times for refunds but no action was taken in this regard by the officials.

At the end, the appellants decided to approach FTO for getting legitimate refunds. The counsel argued that the Lahore LTU should clear the refunds at the end of fiscal year but it did not do the same.

On the other side, counsel for Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) Lahore argued that the LTU has ready to settle the case after assessment. After hearing the arguments from both sides, the adviser adjourned the case of M/s Lalpir Power Limited Lahore until next date.
