FAISALABAD: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has adjourned the hearing of a case filed by one Shams-ud-Din against the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Faisalabad, Chenab Zone, until the next hearing.

FTO Advisor Haji Irshad Ahmed Ali heard the case in which counsel for the appellant argued that the RTO had failed to release the sales tax refund since two years claimed by the company.

He said the RTO has been collecting excessive tax from Shams-ud-Din for the last two years. He approached the commissioner concerned many times for release of refunds but the RTO officials did not pay him refunds, even after the passage of a reasonable period.

At the end, the company decided to approach the FTO seeking intervention in this case. The counsel appealed the FTO advisor to direct the RTO to clear refund claims. The counsel further said the RTO should refund the excessive collection of taxes by the end of financial year but the situation is quite different.

After hearing arguments from both sides, Advisor Haji Irshad Ahmed Ali postponed the hearing of the case by next date for further hearing and directed the parties to appear on the next date to present arguments.
