FTO settles 30,000 tax cases by the end of 2017

QUETTA: Advisor in-charge Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has said that FTO proves to be a bridge between the tax collectors and aggrieved tax payers by providing online complaint filling system in order to reduce time and cost of the complainant

He expressed these views during during his visit to Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday.

Earlier President LCCI, Maqsood Ismail showed his satisfaction that the FTO had settled about 30,300 cases by the end of 2017 which was an example for other public institutions.

He also appreciated the services of FTO office in settling many pending cases of sales tax refund claims amounting billions of rupees during the period of 2011 to 2017.

He mentioned stoppage of the issuance of custom daily list of export and import and requested to use the FTO’s good offices to start publishing the same which would help promote transparency as well as generate more revenues.

Justice Muhammad Nadir Khan said the FTO office would recommend all the steps to improve the performance of tax collecting agencies and to reduce the difficulties of tax payers ensuring high level of professionalism and good governance in the revenue collection system and administration.

He advised the tax payers not to hesitate coming to FTO office at any place in Pakistan as all the offices are connected with each other through video Links.
