FTO successfully defends 77pc decisions before president

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Tax Ombudsman successfully defended 77 percent of its decisions, challenged before President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain during 2015.

According to the official report published in 2016, as many as 137 decisions given by the FTO were challenged before the president.

The figure shows that 122 decisions of the FTO were challenged before the president by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and 15 decisions were challenged by taxpayers.

The president, out of these totals 137 cases, upheld the 105 decisions of the FTO. Therein, 92 cases filed by the FBR and 13 cases filed by taxpayers, were rejected.
